Key Modules

Explore a curriculum carefully calibrated for modern global leaders. These strategic modules ensure a profound academic foundation alongside practical consultancy skills required in aviation governance.

Project Planning and Execution

Detailed planning is the foundation of every successful project. This module develops a critical understanding of planning and execution principles, guided by professional bodies of knowledge such as the APM BoK and PMI PMBOK. Through a realistic project scenario, students define scope, objectives, quality and success criteria, build an integrated baseline plan, and learn to monitor progress and resources throughout the execution phase.

This module explores the leading project management methodologies used today and how they drive successful project delivery. Students evaluate and apply approaches such as Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Hybrid and PRINCE2, alongside the standards of APM, PMI and IPMA. The module also examines the role project managers play in the global move towards a sustainable, low and zero carbon future.

Projects succeed or fail through people. This module focuses on the human side of project management, exploring how soft skills, leadership and motivation help build and sustain high-performing project teams. Students examine stakeholder relationships, group dynamics, conflict resolution, decision-making and leading organisational change, as well as corporate social responsibility and diversity within the project management profession.

This module gives students the opportunity to carry out an in-depth study of a project management topic of personal and professional interest, drawn from their studies, current work or recent experience. Students are introduced to appropriate research methods and strategies, then plan and carry out a rigorous, theoretically informed investigation. The outcome is a dissertation that demonstrates critical thinking and links theory, research and practice.

This module gives students the opportunity to act as consultants on a real business or project-related challenge facing an organisation. Working from problem identification through to practical, solution-focused recommendations, students apply the project management knowledge, tools and methodologies gained across the programme. The outcome is a professional consultancy report and management summary that provides a clear basis for action, building the analytical, reflective and advisory skills valued by employers.
